PMS Or Pregnant
Is It Just PMS, or Am I Pregnant?
Sometimes it can be quite difficult to tell if it’s PMS or pregnant. After all, both of these cause pretty much the same symptoms: moodiness, bloating, aches, and pain. However, there are a few surefire signs that can help you tell for sure if it’s PMS or pregnant.
The first place you should always start is with a home pregnancy test if there’s a chance you could be pregnant. Home pregnancy tests measure the HCG levels in your urine. The level will be much higher if you are pregnant. HCG is basically the pregnancy hormone.
If you’re pretty sure you’re not pregnant and don’t want to run out and buy a pregnancy test, then there are some other ways you can tell if it’s PMS or pregnant. For one thing, any pets you have will start being very protective of you, even more so than they are usually. Watch their behavior closely, because they will probably start sitting with you more often and being extra careful of you. Pets are even more attuned to our bodies than we are, which can be very scary for all of us.
There are also other reasons you might not want to start with a pregnancy test. For example, the test won’t catch your pregnancy if it’s too early. In fact, if you’re wondering whether it’s PMS or pregnancy, then there’s a good chance the pregnancy won’t show on the test right away because you either haven’t missed your period or you’re just a couple of days late.
Some women experience a plethora of PMS symptoms, from breast tenderness, fatigue, digestive problems, and bloating. All of these symptoms could also indicate pregnancy, so you’ve got to look elsewhere for a more definitive answer. First, if the PMS symptoms suddenly disappear right when your period should be arriving, then there’s a good chance you’re pregnant.
Another way to tell the difference between PMS and pregnancy is through changes in your symptoms. For example, if you suddenly start feeling nauseous but aren’t running a fever, then you could be pregnant if this deviates from the symptoms you usually feel when you are pregnant. Of course PMS symptoms can change as you age, but usually it’s a gradual change.
The easiest way to tell if you are pregnant is really to wait the two weeks and see if your period comes. At that point, you can then take a pregnancy test and be sure the pregnancy will show up if it’s there. Occasionally, some women miss a period altogether, and some women miss them frequently even if they’re not pregnant. You’ve just got to hang in there and keep waiting, even though the waiting can be very difficult.
Perhaps you can even put all the waiting to good use if you’re excited about the pregnancy. You can start thinking about baby names and nursery themes if you wish, although you might not want to if you’ve been let down a lot in this department in the past.
